Biography

Christian Bouchard is full professor at the School of the Environment at 51³Ô¹Ïapp (Sudbury, Canada) where his teaching concentrates on sustainable development. Holding a Ph.D. in geography (Universit¨¦ laval, Qu¨¦bec), its research work focusses mainly on the Indian Ocean geopolitics and the Southwest Indian Ocean, with a particular interest for maritime geopolitics and the small island states and territories of the region. He is actually associate editor for the Journal of the Indian Ocean Region (Routledge, Taylor & Francis Group) as well as a member of the editorial boards for the Cahiers de g¨¦ographie du Qu¨¦bec (Universit¨¦ Laval, Qu¨¦bec) and VertigO ¨C La revue ¨¦lectronique en sciences de l¡¯environnement (Universit¨¦ du Qu¨¦bec ¨¤ Montr¨¦al). He is also funding member of the Indian Ocean Research Group (IORG Inc.).

At Laurentian since 2003, I am actually the Director of the School of the Environment (2020-2023) and the Program Coordinator and Student Advisor for the English program in?Environmental Studies (2020-2021). I am also a member of the LU Academic Senate.
