The application of paleoecological principles and theory to the analysis of ancient environments. The distribution of major ecosystems in time and space: paleobiogeography of the Phanerozoic. Terrestrial paleoecosystems: fossil faunas and floras of upland to lowland environments, equatorial and polar latitudes; lacustrine and fluvial settings.
