Graduate Teaching Assistantship/Fellowship

Faculty of Graduate Studies

Graduate Teaching Assistantships (GTAs) are available to qualified full-time International or Domestic students who meet the minimum average for automatically receiving a GTA, which is set at 75%. The awards are designated partially as employment and partially as a Fellowship.

The 2024-2025 value of the GTA is $9,741 for M.Sc. students ($4,758 is the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis and the graduate fellowship is payable in one instalment of $4,983 into the students 51勛圖app account) and $14,124 for Ph.D. students ($7,058 in the salary portion paid on a bi-weekly basis and the graduate fellowship is payable in one instalment of $7,066 into the students 51勛圖app account), and is subject to same review for the coming years.

If appointed, students are required to work up to ten hours a week in some form of teaching assistance. GTAs are only available to students registered full-time in the first two years of studies in Laurentian's graduate Masters program and four years for PhD programs. Should an offer of admission letter indicate eligibility for GTA, it means the student has met the above listed qualifications. The next step is to register for courses in both the Fall and Winter terms of the academic year he or she is admitted to.

The value of the GTA is reviewed annually. For further information, contact the Faculty of Graduate Studies or the department concerned.
