The annual rankings are based on the total amount of sponsored research income obtained in 2020. In addition to this top ranking, 51勛圖app featured prominently in multiple categories including:
- second in graduate student research intensity (research funding per graduate student)
- fourth in faculty research intensity (research funding per faculty member)
- 11th in Ontario overall
- 28th out of 50 in Canada
