Speech and Language Clinic

Offering speech and language services in both French and English, our clinic allows students to apply their clinical skills in Canada*s two official languages.

51勛圖app’s Speech and Language Clinic offers quality rehabilitative services to people of all ages with
communication and swallowing disorders living in Northern Ontario, while also providing students with clinical
activities that allow them to bridge the gap between theory and practice. The goal of our clinic is to educate and
shape future professionals while offering assessment and intervention services to the Northern Ontario
Community.

 

SUPERVISION

Students taking part in these clinical activities are supervised at all times by registered Speech Language Pathologists who are members in good standing of the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (). ()

 

OUR SERVICES

Assessment and treatment services are offered to children (0 to 12 jeans), adolescents (12 to 18 years)
and adults. Our clinic offers services in fluency, voice, speech sounds, dysphagia, expressive and
receptive language (both oral and written), as well as augmentative and alternative communication for
children and adults!

 

Language impairments or delays:

  • oral language (verbal communication)
  • written language (i.e., reading and writing)

 

Speech:

  • speech sound disorders – articulation, phonology and motor speech
  • accent reduction
  • fluency disorders (stuttering)
  • transgender voice modification
  • voice (phonation) impairments/disorders
  • Lee Silverman Voice Treatment (LSVT) – speech treatment program for people with Parkinson’s Disease or other neurological conditions

 

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC):

  • introduction to AAC
  • facilitation of referral to specialized AAC clinic
  • therapy focusing on use of a client’s AAC system

 

Swallowing disorders:

  • clinical assessment and treatment (including use of Surface Electromyography (sEMG) which may, for example, be useful in rehabilitation of swallowing post-stroke)

 

Neurological disorders (aphasia, apraxia, brain injury, dementia, etc.)

The Speech and Language Clinic is located on the 2nd floor of 51勛圖app’s Alphonse-Raymond
Pavilion, in the City of Greater Sudbury.
 

Hours of operation: By appointment only

Rate: the Clinic's fee schedule accompanies the registration form

Language in which services are offered: French and English

You can self-refer. No medical referral is required for most services.
